Steam: The Current Sales

Post  Terra on Wed Apr 21, 2010 11:48 am

As most PC gamers will know, Steam is a great place for digital downloads when it comes to PC gaming, and often contains many great deals and game sales among other things, making it very popular among PC Gamers. Here are the games currently on other in this week’s “Midweek Madness Deals”, which last until Thursday.

There are three main titles on offer here. Possibly the biggest of the lot is “Trine”. Trine is a side-scrolling, 2.5D Action and Puzzle Game released last year by Finnish Developer Frozenbyte in which you control one of three characters, a King, a Thief or a Wizard, each with varying abilities as you progress through the levels. This received a lot of positive reviews and is currently going at 75% off for £4.25/$5 so if you’re interested, now is definitely the right time to buy it.

The other two main games on sale as part of the Midweek Madness is the “Deus Ex Collection”. For those who don’t know the series, Dues Ex is the brainchild of Warren Spector, who Wii gamers may be familiar with as being the main designer for Epic Mickey. Deus Ex was released in 2000, while its sequel, “The Invisible War”, was released in 2003 and is renowned for combining First Person Shooters with RPG’s, two genres not known for mixing gameplay between them and was set in the 2050s in a dystopian world. These games are remarkably on sale for just £1.50/$2.50 each or £3/$5 for both, which is a fantastic deal for such great games.

Other, smaller deals currently going on include “Zombie Driver”, a Vehicular Combat game involving, well, Zombies. This game has received average reviews but is currently 50% off, going at the low price of £3.50/$6 so it may be worth checking out if you like a touch of undead with your frantic driving. Then there’s "Beat Hazard". The best way to describe this is that it’s what Audiosurf would be if it were a shooter. You play music tracks from your own collection on the computer and levels are generated around it. The deal is less than the others though, as it’s going for only 25% as part of a “first week release” deal but is still worth a look nonetheless.

These are the main deals for the time being. Be sure to check back on Friday, when the Weekend deals will appear with more information here.
